On the other hand, the number of ‘occupational illnesses’ soared due to infections with Covid-19.
Overall, 15,145 incidents were recognised as work-related accidents in 2020. 19 of these accidents led to the death of the worker, three more than in 2019. 2,246 accidents occurred on the way to work.
The Accident Insurance Association (AAA) received around 100 declarations per day. On average, a work-related accident creates costs of around €3,800.
These figures were revealed by the AAA in their annual report published on Tuesday.
