Wild boar huntNone of the seven wild boars shot were infected with African swine fever

RTL Today
The Ministry for Agriculture released this information on Tuesday afternoon.

None of the seven wild boars shot during the two day battue (driven hunt) held on 4 and 5 July showed signs of infection of African swine fever. Two cadavers that were found during the hunt were also analysed. One of those tests came back negative, while the second animal could not be analysed.

The wild boar hunt continues in the designated "White Zone". Until further notice, it is also allowed at night and traps will be set up. The aim of the hunt is to reduce the number of wild boars in the border area with Belgium and to therefore reduce the risk of African Swine Fever infections in Luxembourg.

The general public should remain vigilant and report any dead wild boars to the local wildlife authority or to the following hotline: (+352) 247-56666 (Administration de la nature et des forêts).
