Friday was the second and last day of the so-called driven hunt along the Belgian border. The tally from Thursday saw five boars shot alongside the discovery of two other boar cadavers.

150 hunters participated, albeit without dogs, and only two wild boars were shot on on Friday.

The hunt was organised within the context of preventing any outbreaks of African swine fever, mainly by keeping the buffer zone by the Belgian border clear of wild boar.

The boars shot on Thursday were delivered to the Mamer collection centre to be sampled. So far all the cadavers tested on Thursday came out negative, confirming that there have been no cases of African swine fever so far. By Monday the remaining boars will be tested and the results will be announced.
