On Thursday, the Air Rescue service carried out exercises at Findel, enabling teams on the ground to train in operating missions from a helicopter without it having to land.

These operations had been suspended in recent years due to financing confusion, but the situation has been rectified thanks to a contract with the Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps.

On Thursday, a simulation showing an injured person in a difficult-to-access location was enacted, with a paramedic descending to the ground to prepare the victim, before the helicopter returned to hoist up the patient on a stretcher.

The number of interventions dropped during containment, mainly due to the absence of traffic or site accidents. However, Air Rescue participated in the transport of 40 patients with Covid-19 in collaboration with the CGDIS as well as the German and French authorities.

These flights have now been paused, but usual operations have resumed and are reaching pre-crisis figures once more.
