The report (FR) was conducted by the epidemiological and statistical teams from the Health Directorate between 28 December 2020 and 15 June this year.
The document concludes that especially for people above the age of 70, infections declined by 85% after being fully inoculated. Similarly, changes of death went down by 99%, while the risk for hospitalisation declined by 92%. The risk of being infected is almost nine times lower.
The effect of the vaccine also showed in the country’s senior and care homes: 90% fewer infections, 98% fewer hospitalisations, and 96% fewer deaths. Residents of those institutions also have the highest vaccination rate in the country with 80-84%.
The BionTech/Pfizer vaccine is most used in the Grand Duchy, followed by AstraZeneca, Moderna, and Johnson&Johnson.
