All parties voted for the motion, excluding déi Lénk, who abstained.

The law, introduced by the CSV, stipulates that “the entire population eligible for the vaccine” should receive a voluntary booster shot to increase immunity against the virus. It also proposes that the government could reopen all vaccination centres in the country “if needed”. Only three currently remain open: on Limpertsberg, in Esch-sur-Alzette and in Ettelbruck.

The Superior Council for Infectious Diseases has not yet spoken out in favour of a third dose. Its most recent advice from early November did not yet recommend it. The government is slated to study the question this week.

Currently people over 65 and health workers are invited to receive their third shot, using mRNA vaccines only (Pfizer and Moderna) and limited to six months after their previously completed shots.
