The traffic stop was conducted in the spirit of the current action plan to increase motorcyclist safety. As a result, Diekirch police officers worked together with northern colleagues and customs officers in the traffic stop.
Whilst officers did focus on motorcyclists, they also stopped other motorists. The main focus of the traffic stop was to check vehicle safety measures and motorists' paperwork.
In two cases, the motorists' road tax discs had expired. A further eight motorists had expired technical inspection certificates. Police officers also noted that four vehicles had technical issues. Finally, six motorists neglected to even have their paperwork in their cars or on their person.
