Dr Buchler also stated that they are against a vaccine mandate by sector or age group, citing social, medical and organisational reasons. Everyone should be treated equally, he said, and this is only possible with a general mandate.
He showed little understanding for the position of the patient advocacy group, which is against a general mandate. It seems that the organisation isn’t against a mandate, but against vaccination itself, he said.
Omicron had changed the pandemic situation, as it results in less severe illness. But there may still be further variants in the offing, which is why he strongly hopes that more people will choose to get the vaccine.
