On Monday 29 December, the Diekirch public prosecutor’s office was informed by Echternach police that a fireworks business had been operating on the site of a disused petrol station in Rosport, storing a large quantity of products without the required authorisations. Authorities acted on Tuesday to put an end to the illegal trade, transporting the fireworks to a safe location. The shipment weighed a total of 1,140 kg, including 197.3 kg of explosives.

The owner of the materials, who is under investigation, filed a complaint against the police, claiming to RTL that officers had transported over a tonne of hazardous materials without proper labelling. He did not provide further details, citing the ongoing nature of the case.
