Attempted robbery in EchternachMan caught in police chase to German border

RTL Today
On Wednesday evening, Luxembourg police followed a suspect to Germany after the man attempted to burgle a service station in Echternach.

At around 11pm, officers received reports of a man acting suspiciously at the petrol station, which was already closed for business. When a patrol investigated, they found the man in his car, at which point he attempted to flee the scene. His vehicle sustained light damage in the process, after hitting a wall.

The police took off in hot pursuit of the suspect, as the chase led them across the border via Weilerbach to Germany. Finally, the individual was stopped with the help of German police near Bollendorf.

The suspect carried out a breathalyser test, which returned positive results. A search of his vehicle yielded a crowbar and a spade, while there were signs of forced entry detected at the petrol station he had targeted. The man was subsequently taken into custody.
