With primary school pupils back to school since Tuesday, secondary school pupils will be heading back to classrooms starting on Wednesday. This applies first to the 5,923 students beginning their 7e classes, the very first year of secondary school in Luxembourg.
A notable change this year is the expansion of French-language classes. Seventeen secondary schools are now offering 7e classes taught exclusively in French, up from ten schools last year.
Looking ahead, a pilot programme will be launched next year with three schools offering 7e classes taught entirely in German.
The remaining secondary school pupils will return to their classrooms on Thursday, concluding the staggered start to the new academic year.
