Despite Luxlait being too small to compete with the bigger companies in the dairy sector, new management has resolved to export more niche products.

Every Luxembourg resident will have their own memories of Luxlait products, such as the 70's milk in a plastic bag, produced in Bettembourg. Nowadays the Roost site boasts 350 products, based on 110 different recipes. As well as the traditional trio of milk, cream, and butter, there are numerous niche products designed to be exported.

Agronomist Gilles Gerard took over management of Luxlait last year after 23 years in the industry. As well as guaranteeing high quality products, it is important to him to constantly reinvent the brand. A challenge, perhaps, but the only way to keep the dairy going. Every year the Roost factory uses around 160 million litres of fresh milk from 360 Luxembourgish farmers belonging to the cooperative.

Luxlait is currently working alongside the Bofferding brewery to produce a new cheese for the Luxembourg market.

Since the new production plant opened in Roost in April 2009, the company have continued to invest, over €13 million in new machinery and top of the range stockrooms to hold up to 12,000 pallets. Nowadays, in their 125th year, Luxlait's turnover is around €100 million.
