Nearly 900 personnel and 50 vehicles took part in Luxembourg's traditional National Day military parade on Tuesday, though dog handlers marched without their canines due to the red heat alert.

Take a look back in pictures at the best moments of the military parade and the official ceremony at the Philharmonie on 23 June 2026.

Following the official ceremony at the Philharmonie on Tuesday morning, the formal National Day programme continued in Luxembourg City with the traditional military parade along Avenue de la Liberté.

This year's parade featured nearly 900 personnel and offered spectators a chance to admire the army's vehicles: 50 in total, complemented by 18 motorcycles, two aircraft, and a police helicopter. However, due to the prevailing weather conditions – Luxembourg is under a red heat alert – the dog handling teams took part without their canine companions.

Speaking at the Philharmonie, Grand Duke Guillaume declared: "When our army, our police, and our civil services parade here, on this thoroughfare that rightly bears the name Avenue de la Liberté, they remind us that our freedom is not to be taken for granted." Belgian and French contingents also took part in the proceedings.

It should also be noted that the military marching band performed the new Grand Duke Guillaume march, composed by Georges Sadeler, during the ceremony.
