Meteolux's data does not lie: the last decade has been especially hot in Luxembourg. Particular observations have been found in Findel, where Meteolux's weather station is based and constantly carries out measurements to evaluate the evolution of the weather.
The meteorological service's experts confirmed that 2019 was the third-hottest year ever recorded in Luxembourg. Even worse, the climate division added that the 'seven hottest years ever observed at the weather station took place between 2003 and 2019.' The climax of the rising temperatures was 2018 with its average of 11.1 °C. As Meteolux estimated, their long-term analysis of data since 1947 demonstrates that average annual temperatures have placed above the 1981-2020 average since the mid-1990s.
In everyday life, this means warmer days. Consequently, the average monthly temperature recorded at the airport regularly exceeds the average from the 1981-2010 reference period. These range from small increase of 0.1 or 0.2 °C to significant differences, such as December 2015. This month had an average temperature of 6.8 °C rather than the normal 1.8 °C.
Between 2010 and 2019, temperatures recorded at the airport in Findel were regularly above the averages from between 1981 and 2010. The blues show the temperatures underneath prior averages alongside those above in red.
