Spanish police located and arrested Bilal Haidach in Madrid on Wednesday, 17 December 2025.

Haidach had been listed among “Europe’s Most Wanted Fugitives” since mid-November and was the subject of an active search by Luxembourg’s Fugitive Search Section. The pursuit followed a violent burglary on 19 September 2023.

According to authorities, during that incident Haidach entered a private home where the occupant was awakened by suspicious noises. Finding himself in the same room as the victim, Haidach jumped onto the bed and crushed the homeowner’s face with his hands. The victim, who has asthma, subsequently suffered an attack of dyspnoea (shortness of breath), after which Haidach fled the scene.

The Luxembourg police confirmed the fugitive is now in custody in Spain.
