The Environmental Performance Index (EPI) is a joint research project by Yale and Columbia on behalf of the World Economic Forum, with the goal being to develop an international environment index. The index is supposed to compare the environmental performances of countries in terms of quantity in order to support successful environmental policies. It is also meant to contribute scientific data to the United Nations' international development goals.
