Family members of around 30 residents of the Blannenheem voiced harsh words of criticism when speaking to RTL radio last week. Among other things, they said that there was "no humanity," that the atmosphere at the care home was "prison-like" and that the residents are treated like objects. "Everything revolves around money," one of the family members claimed. The violent criticism has now triggered tangible consequences. After two crisis meetings, the administrative board decided to go separate ways with the general director of the Blannenheem.

The administrative board argued in a statement that the severe complaints of the family members do not reflect the reality of the everyday life at the care home. The board also said they were disappointed in the behaviour of former director Roger Hoffmann, who they say tried to raise his own profile at the expense of his successor. Hoffmann had also not shied away from violently criticising the management of the care home when speaking to RTL.

The board explained that the current general director Jean-Paul Grün agreed to step down and terminate his contract. They briefly thanked him for his work.

Christian Erang will serve as interim director of the Blannenheem until a new permanent director has been appointed.

The administrative board comprises several current and former politicians such as Marc Fischbach, Steinsel mayor Jempy Klein, and former mayors Albert Henkel and Marianne Brosius-Kolber.
