Domestic violenceDeath threats made against ex-wife and daughter

RTL Today
A woman who was abused by her husband for years is still receiving death threats after being divorced.

The now ex-husband had already been sentenced to a year in prison with probation in 2011 after having physically injured his wife.

Domestic violence regularly continued during the years after that. The situation finally escalated when the man in question hurt his daughter  three weeks ago.

Mother and daughter filed a complaint with the police on 15 May, another one following just the day after, since the father had started threatening the family anew.

On 24 May, an exceptional plea was made to prohibit all visits to guarantee the safety of both victims. The court rejected the motion due to legal reasons.

The organisation "Femmes en détresse" ("Women in dispair") annualy registers forty cases of violent threats made by fathers against their children.
