
According to the latest ALVA statement, the product CAPREA 1 from the brand Babybio, sold in 800-gram tins with a best-before date of 28 July 2027, is being recalled. The recall applies to tins with lot number 899014.
There is a suspected contamination of the powdered milk with cereulide, a toxin produced by the bacterium Bacillus cereus. When ingested, it can cause diarrhoea, cramps and vomiting in infants, which can be fatal for some young children.
The symptoms usually appear within 30 minutes to six hours after consumption.
