Two French rail unions have filed strike notices affecting services between France and Luxembourg from Tuesday evening, 6 May, until Sunday 11 May 2025. The Luxembourg National Railway Company (CFL) advises passengers to verify their travel plans in advance due to potential delays and cancellations.

The industrial action may disrupt regional trains on the Luxembourg City – Thionville – Metz line as well as high-speed TGV connections between Luxembourg and France. Passengers are encouraged to check real-time updates via www.cfl.lu or the CFL mobile app.

SNCF management maintains that 90% of services will operate normally despite the strikes. CEO Jean-Pierre Farandou urged travellers to keep their bookings, noting: “We will be close to 90% of trains running this weekend.” All tickets for TGV Inoui and Ouigo trains between 5-11 May remain eligible for free exchanges or refunds. Travellers affected by cancellations will receive a 50% discount voucher for future trips – applicable even if they opt for alternative services.

The strike, coinciding with a holiday weekend expecting 1.8 million travellers, centres on increased bonus payments and revised work organisation protocols. SNCF pledges to confirm specific train statuses by Wednesday morning at the latest.
