This demonstration was announced in early June as a standalone action, ahead of the larger protest planned by the Independent Luxembourg Trade Union Confederation (OGBL) and the Luxembourg Confederation of Christian Trade Unions (LCGB) on Saturday, 28 June.
The civil service union is thus taking a stand against the proposed pension reform and what it sees as an attack by the government on Luxembourg’s traditional social model. The CGFP also received support on Wednesday from the General Federation of Municipal Civil Servants (FGFC) and the railway workers’ union Syprolux.
The demonstration will begin at 1.30pm in front of the Chamber of Deputies in Luxembourg City.
