André Prüm will temporarily take over as Dean of the Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance (FDEF) at the University of Luxembourg, following the resignation of Katalin Ligeti. Prüm has been tasked with overseeing the process to elect a new dean in the autumn.
University Rector Jens Kreisel announced the appointment on Wednesday. The announcement also confirmed Kreisel's own return to work after a prolonged sick leave.
Ligeti resigned as dean in late April. In recent months, pressure had been mounting on her amid various allegations, including the mishandling of conflicts of interest during the recruitment of new academic staff. She was also accused of attempting to influence student representatives during the most recent elections for the Board of Governors.
Speaking to RTL, Ligeti denied the allegations.
Prüm previously served as dean of the FDEF from 2005 to 2012. He is now expected to manage the upcoming election process in a "collegial and constructive framework".
