The number of salaried jobs in Luxembourg rose by 0.4% in the latest quarter compared with the first quarter of the year, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (STATEC). Over the past twelve months, salaried employment has grown by 1.6%.
Public sector employment grew faster. Jobs in public administration and related services rose by 1.1% over the quarter and by 4.3% year on year. STATEC attributes the increase mainly to new hires in government services and hospitals.
Construction moved the other way, with the number of jobs falling by 0.1% over the quarter.
