Safety is the first concern when buying a car seat for a child, but a good one can quickly become expensive. The ACL car seat sale, which has been running for 30 years, offers a cheaper alternative.

ACL members can put their used seats up for sale free of charge, provided they are still in good condition. Up to 300 seats can be submitted in Bertrange and another 50 in Ingeldorf. Sellers set their own prices, which typically range from 50 to 150 euros.

Every seat is inspected before it goes on sale. The ACL checks safety standards, the harness, the fabric and the Isofix system, and does not accept models that have failed safety tests.

Around 60% of seats find a new owner on average. Unsold seats can be collected afterwards or, with the owner’s consent, donated to a good cause, so the sale has a sustainability and social side as well.

Buyers should bring cash, as card payments are not possible for logistical reasons.

The event takes place at ACL Bertrange and ACL ingeldorf between 9am-1pm on 17 October.
