The latest Covid-19 law also affects municipal administrations.
Municipalities may decide independently to subject access to their administration to the CovidCheck system, i.e. to only allow access to persons who have been vaccinated, cured, or who have a certified negative test (PCR or antigenic).
During a meeting with representatives of the Association of Luxembourg Cities and Municipalities (Syvicol), Minister for Home Affairs Taina Bofferding, however, specified that “the access of the population to the counters of the communes must remain guaranteed in all circumstances”, according to a statement published by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
In addition, in view of the forthcoming municipal elections, two parts of the communal law will be revised as a matter of priority. These are the “personnel and organisation” and “rights and duties of local elected representatives” sections.
Finally, the communes affected by the serious floods this summer will have more time to prepare their claims before submitting them to the Ministry of Home Affairs.
