The investigation, ongoing for several weeks, revealed that the perpetrators posed as postal or delivery service drivers in order to gain access to victims' bank cards and financial information.

On Thursday, officers in Clervaux detained a man under the order of the public prosecutor. He is believed to be a member of a group that, for several weeks, has been calling on elderly residents under the guise of delivery personnel. Using this method, they were able to collect credit card details, which were then used to withdraw money.

As part of the inquiry led by the Diekirch Public Prosecutor's Office, arrest warrants were issued against several suspects. The Central Criminal Investigation Directorate of the judicial police is investigating 11 similar cases. The man now in custody is considered the main suspect.

Authorities expect the number of charges against him to rise as the investigation continues.

As always, the presumption of innocence applies until proven guilty in court.
