Fear not, dear readers, there are no roller coasters and no takeover planned, just an April Fools' prank that briefly reimagined Bettembourg's Parc Merveilleux as something entirely different.

To mark April Fools’ Day, we published a tongue-in-cheek story about major changes to Bettembourg’s Parc Merveilleux – claims that were, in reality, entirely fabricated. To play along with the prank, some of the claims we shared were generated using AI.

The idea that the Parc Merveilleux is set to become a large-scale theme park like Europa-Park or Disneyland Paris is, of course, nonsense. We hope we have not disappointed too many people, though others may feel relieved that major construction projects in the Bettembourg area are not on the horizon.

In that spirit, we would first like to thank the Parc Merveilleux team for playing along. They were informed in advance about our April Fools’ joke, and we hope they will not mind that we used the park as part of the prank to catch a few people out on 1 April.

There are, according to our information, no plans to expand or modernise the park, nor is there any need to worry that animals might one day be living next to a roller coaster and enduring constant noise. Everything will remain as it is, and the municipality of Bettembourg need not fear an influx of visitors that would suddenly make the town feel too small.

The Parc Merveilleux, as many would agree across the country, is just right as it is and should remain so.

What is true, however, is that the Parc Merveilleux is celebrating its 70th anniversary this year, a remarkable milestone for a leisure and animal park, and the only one of its kind in Luxembourg. The park’s management has indicated that a larger celebration is planned for next year, in 2027, which promises to be something to look forward to.
