The Greater Region is experiencing its first taste of winter, with temperatures dropping below zero in Luxembourg, France, and Belgium.

Luxembourg: wind chill -4°C

If Tuesday morning felt particularly cold, there's a reason: Meteolux reported a wind chill of -4°C. Dry but frigid conditions dominated the country, with frost covering the roads and light snowfall predicted. Skies will remain clear, and temperatures are expected to rise above freezing in the afternoon.

Wednesday will bring cloudier skies and wintry precipitation, likely a mix of rain and snow. Daytime temperatures will hover around 0°C, barely rising above freezing.

Sub-zero mornings will continue for the rest of the week: -1°C on Thursday, -3°C on Friday, and down to -4°C over the weekend.

France: dry cold in Lorraine

"Sunshine will prevail during the day across most regions", Météo France reports. Morning temperatures will be chilly, ranging between 1°C and 2°C from Longwy to Metz on Tuesday night into Wednesday.

Light rain is expected on Wednesday, followed by cold, dry conditions over the weekend. Sub-zero temperatures are forecast from Thursday evening, dropping as low as -4°C in Verdun and -3°C in Longwy, Metz and Nancy by Friday evening.

Belgium: Be careful on the roads

The Royal Meteorological Institute has warned drivers to take care on Tuesday, as roads in the Province of Luxembourg could be slippery in the morning.

Above 400m, slushy conditions are possible Tuesday evening, ahead of wintry showers on Wednesday that may reach as far as the Luxembourg border.

Drivers are again advised to be cautious on Thursday and Friday, with freezing fog and sub-zero temperatures around -2°C expected. Saturday should bring more sunshine across the region.
