Portuguese authorities have arrested a Luxembourg national on the basis of an international arrest warrant, with media reports linking the case to drug trafficking.
A 45-year-old man from Luxembourg was arrested in Portugal on Friday, according to Portuguese media reports. The arrest was executed in the municipality of Trofa, near Porto, following an active arrest warrant issued on 7 November.
The individual, who was already known to Portuguese authorities, was reportedly wanted in connection with drug trafficking offences. He was identified and subsequently taken into custody during a routine police check at approximately 4.30pm.
The Luxembourg Public Prosecutor's Office has not yet officially confirmed the arrest or the details of the case.
