On Thursday afternoon, the police carried out several road checks in the north of the country.

At around 3.30pm, police carried out a roadside check making sure passing vehicle documents were in order on the N12 in Wincrange.

Five fines were issued for discrepancies in vehicle paperwork. Three drivers were fined for defective lights, two for not wearing seat belts, and one for failing to carry a safety vest.

At around 5pm, officers conducted another check in Wilwerdange, checking if motorists respected the local stop sign and a traffic ban on the dirt road between the CR336 and the N12 from the junction between the main road and Wämperwee.

Five drivers were fined for ignoring the stop sign, and two for document defects. Nine drivers used the dirt road despite the ban and were also fined.

From around 6pm, further checks took place on Gruuss-Strooss and Beelerstrooss in Weiswampach, mainly targeting vehicle documents and speed.

Two fines were issued for defects in vehicle documentation. Officers also found faults in a vehicle’s lighting system, and one driver received a warning and a fine for inadequate windscreen visibility. In another case, a passenger was not wearing a seat belt. Three drivers exceeded the speed limit and were issued warnings and fines.
