This is following the Luxembourg's Association of Doctors and Dentists (AMMD) decision to end its convention with the national health insurance fund (CNS) on 8 October.

The decision has now been formally delivered to the CNS by letter, as announced in a press release.

The AMMD called the move historic, saying the current framework is no longer acceptable to healthcare professionals and "no longer resembles modern medicine". The association reiterated its aim to improve patient care, particularly by speeding up procedures.

According to the press release, doctors want to work constructively with the government and the CNS, with a new agreement to be drafted as soon as possible.

Negotiation priorities include replacing automatic, compulsory agreements with "selective" ones, and discussing "pricing autonomy" for doctors and dentists.

The Medical College regularly oversees procedures performed by doctors, while the CNS determines the advances granted.
