The dispute over the damage discovered after renovation work on the runway at Findel Airport remains unresolved.
All laboratory tests and external technical analyses commissioned by Lux-Airport have now been completed. The airport operator ordered additional examinations in preparation for possible legal action against the companies and engineering firms involved in the project.
The renovation work dates back to 2021 and 2022. Soon after its completion, cracks appeared in the concrete, and issues with water drainage on parts of the runway system were detected.
For the moment, Lux-Airport has declined to comment on the results of the analyses, as the case, potentially worth millions in damages, will be settled in court. The operator clarified that the damage has not affected airport operations.
These details were provided by Mobility Minister Yuriko Backes in response to a parliamentary question from MP Jeff Engelen of the Alternative Democratic Reform Party.
