Luxembourg’s MEPs show contrasting influence in PR agency Burson Global’s ranking, with Tilly Metz in the top three for parliamentary influence and Fernand Kartheiser near the bottom.

Burson's Influence index ranks MEPs according to two dimensions: parliamentary and public influence. The first takes into account MEP's capacity to impact legislation and the political agenda as well as their ability to secure leadership roles and win votes.

Public influence, by contrast, reflects their capacity to shape public discourse across three areas: social media, news coverage, and online search presence.

Tilly Metz (Greens/EFA) ranks third on the parliamentary influence scale, just behind Spain's Francisco Javier Zarzalejos Nieto (EPP) and Czech MEP Veronika Vrecionová (ECR), who took the top spot.

Burson attributes Metz's spot in part to her experience as a returning MEP and her multiple active roles within multiple committees. She currently serves as Vice-Chair of the Committee on Health (SANT) and the Delegation for relations with South Africa (D-ZA), and is also a member of the Committee on Environment (ENVI).

Among other Luxembourgish MEPs, long-standing member Marc Angel (S&D) also made it into the top 100 for parliamentary influence, ranking 95th. The rest placed lower: Charel Goerens (Renew) ranks 156th, Isabel Wiseler-Lima (EPP) 236th, Martine Kemp (EPP) 517th, and Fernand Kartheiser (ECR) 590th.

In terms of public influence, Luxembourg's MEPs score lower. Metz places 214th, Angel 274th, and Kartheiser 486th, followed by Goerens (525th), Wiseler-Lima (660th), and Kemp (670th).

Overall, Burson ranked Luxembourg 16th in parliamentary influence, and 20th in public influence among the 27 EU member states.
