Esch-sur-Sûre has earned a spot on a list of Europe's 20 most beautiful villages, as compiled by the German magazine GEO in July. The picturesque village in the north-west of Luxembourg is the only locality from the Grand Duchy to be featured in the ranking.

The magazine describes Esch-sur-Sûre as a "typical Ardennes castle village", highlighting its historic centre nestled beneath Luxembourg's oldest castle. According to GEO, the village streets have remained virtually unchanged since the Middle Ages, offering visitors a true journey back in time.

GEO's ranking aims to introduce readers to lesser-known yet equally stunning destinations across Europe, providing alternatives to the continent's more famous tourist hotspots. Alongside Esch-sur-Sûre, the list features other villages such as Crupet in Belgium, Lehde in Germany, Winsum in the Netherlands, and Wengen in Switzerland.
