Currently, a total of 3,671 people are living with temporary protection status in Luxembourg, of whom 3,543 hold Ukrainian nationality.
The remaining 128 are individuals who had been living in Ukraine prior to the outbreak of the war, according to figures provided in response to a parliamentary question by the Christian Social People’s Party (CSV), answered by five government ministers.
As of 1 July 2025, 958 Ukrainian children were registered in Luxembourg public schools. In primary schools, Ukrainian children are performing relatively well, falling under the national average for school repeaters. In other words, Ukrainian children seem to be integrating quickly and successfully into the Luxembourgish education system.
Despite the challenges of adapting to a new environment, the figures appear to confirm that Ukrainian children are developing the necessary competencies that allow them to follow the school curriculum.
In June, EU Member States unanimously decided to extend the temporary protection status of people fleeing Ukraine by another year, until March 2027.
