The ethical relationship between humans and animals is the central theme of an international conference drawing hundreds of participants to KUFA in Esch-sur-Alzette this weekend.

An international conference focusing on animal rights is underway this weekend at the KUFA cultural centre in Esch-sur-Alzette. The event brings together approximately 300 participants from around the world to discuss ethical questions concerning the relationship between humans and animals.

Now a recurring event in Luxembourg, the conference is designed to be accessible. According to Heiko Weber, a member of the organising team, it is not as academic as it sounds. The programme includes lectures, workshops, panel discussions, and film screenings covering all aspects of animal rights.

Discussions centre on ending the exploitation of animals for meat production, scientific testing, entertainment, and the clothing industry. The agenda features campaign presentations, ethical debates, and practical field reports.

The full schedule for the talks is available at www.ar-conference.org, which also hosts an archive of presentations from previous years.

On Friday, RTL spoke with German undercover journalist Friedrich Mülln, who investigates conditions inside abattoirs, farms, and animal testing laboratories. Mülln and his organisation, Soko Tierschutz, document and publicise abuses. Their work has led to the exposure and cessation of numerous cases of malpractice.
