A new cohort of Luxembourgish soldiers is preparing for advanced training after successfully demonstrating combat fundamentals during a demanding two-day final assessment.

53 recruits participated in the four-month Basic Training (IB) with the Luxembourg Army, demonstrating proficiency in military fundamentals through a final examination. The training covered essential skills including weapons handling, tactical manoeuvrers, and understanding soldiers' rights and duties.

The two-day final assessment served as the gateway to Advanced Individual Training (IIA) beginning at the end of August.

This next phase prepares soldiers for domestic military operations. After completing this stage, they will move on to the final phase of specialised training, where each soldier is trained for their specific role within their unit. Following this, the soldier will be assigned to a platoon or a support role in areas such as transport, medicine, information and communication, maintenance, or logistics.

However, before the future soldiers begin their advanced individual training, they will complete final administrative steps this week. These include military pass issuance and supplemental theory courses designed to support army integration. Recruits will also enjoy a short leave period from 8-26 August before resuming training on 27 August.

The cycle culminates in a formal swearing-in ceremony on 12 September in Wiltz.
