Luxembourg has one of the lowest rates in the EU of people unable to afford a one-week holiday, with just 8.9% reporting they could not take a break in 2024, new Eurostat figures show.
Luxembourg ranks among the top EU countries where residents are most likely to afford a one-week holiday away from home, according to the latest figures from Eurostat. In 2024, only 8.9% of people in Luxembourg aged 16 and over reported being unable to afford such a break – the second-lowest rate in the European Union.
This places Luxembourg well ahead of the EU average of 27%, highlighting the country's strong position when it comes to living standards and disposable income. Only Sweden (11.6%) and the Netherlands (13%) came close to Luxembourg's level, while countries like Romania (58.6%), Greece (46%), and Bulgaria (41.4%) showed much higher rates of holiday deprivation.
Across the EU, the share of people unable to afford a one-week holiday has declined steadily over the past decade, falling 10.6 percentage points since 2014.
