Eight people were injured in a series of road accidents across Luxembourg between Thursday afternoon and Friday morning, emergency services reported.

Between Thursday afternoon and Friday morning, no fewer than six accidents occurred across Luxembourg, leaving eight people injured, the Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS) confirmed. The incidents occurred between 4.45pm on Thursday and 2.40am on Friday.

The first collision involved a car and a motorcycle in Mertzig, injuring one person. Shortly afterward, two cars crashed in Windhof, resulting in another injury.

At around 6pm, a child was struck by a vehicle in the Merl neighbourhood of Luxembourg City. Emergency services despatched an ambulance and a fire engine, though the Emergency Medical Assistance Team (SAMU) was not called to the scene.

Later, at approximately 8pm in Itzig, a collision between a car and a bus at the "Itzigerstee" site left three people injured. Emergency teams from Hesperange and Bettembourg responded to the incident.

Overnight, between Schifflange and Berchem, two cars collided just before 1am, injuring one person. The final accident occurred around 2.30am on Friday on the A13 motorway near Sanem, where a car crashed under unclear circumstances, leaving one person injured.

Fire incidents

In addition to the road accidents, several fires were reported across the country.

A fire broke out in silos in Colpach-Bas after 6pm on Thursday, prompting the deployment of four fire brigades and an ambulance. No injuries were reported.

Another fire occurred in a ventilation system on Route de Trèves in Senningerberg, requiring intervention from firefighters in Findel, Luxembourg City, and Niederanven. Again, no injuries were reported.

Earlier in the evening, at around 7.40pm, a car caught fire on Rue de Noertzange in Schifflange. Emergency services confirmed no injuries in this incident as well.
