The Ministry of Health moved to reassure patients on Saturday that a potential termination of the agreement between doctors and the CNS would have no immediate impact on their care.
In a press release issued Saturday, the Ministry of Health responded to the Association of Doctors and Dentists (AMMD)'s announcement that it intends to terminate its agreement with the National Health Fund (CNS).
The Ministry sought to reassure the public, stating that even if the agreement is terminated, patients and insured individuals would face no direct consequences. Earlier this week, the AMMD had raised the possibility of terminating the agreement during its general meeting on 8 October.
The Ministry clarified that all current provisions would remain in effect for an additional 12 months, providing a period to negotiate a new agreement.
Additionally, the Ministry highlighted its ongoing collaboration with the AMMD, noting that a two-year "comprehensive analysis" of the healthcare sector is nearing completion. This work is expected to lead to "concrete measures" in the coming months. These initiatives include the expansion of outpatient centres outside hospitals, the implementation of patient records accessible across Europe, and the creation of a legal framework to facilitate group practices for doctors. The Ministry also confirmed that a revision of the hospital law is planned.
