On Saturday at around 1.30pm, police were alerted to a serious accident involving a mountain biker in Baschleiden.

The 34-year-old athlete from Belgium fell while riding on a trail in Baschleiden and sustained such severe injuries that he died at the scene.

An autopsy has been ordered by the public prosecutor. The police's forensic and investigative unit was also present at the scene of the accident.

Other mountain bikers who were part of the same group received support from the psychological support unit. The deceased's mobile phone, watch, and mountain bike were held by police.
