Nora Back, president of the Chamber of Employees, said there were still many inequalities in "our wealthy country" and that the situation was concerning.
Back's comments were made during the presentation of the "Social panorama" report on Thursday morning.
Inequality in Luxembourg is at a high level once more, with the rate of "working poor" now one of the highest in Europe. The unemployment rate is also extremely high, particularly among young people between the ages of 15 and 24. Furthermore, in 2024 the risk of poverty in Luxembourg stood at around 18%.
The Chamber of Employees (CSL) is calling for a structural increase in the minimum wage, as well as political action to combat inequality in child benefit and housing. The Chamber also expressed regret at the fact the plan to tackle poverty was still yet to be implemented.
