Cargolux confirmed one of its firefighting planes had been involved in an incident in Turkey on Thursday, yet declined to supply further details.
In a press release, Cargolux said an Air Tractor AT-802F Fire Boss belonging to its subsidiary Aquarius Aerial Firefighting had been involved in an accident while refuelling with water.
The exact circumstances of the accident were not revealed in the statement, and RTL's follow-up queries were unanswered. The crew were later rescued by a police boat and brought to hospital for check-ups.
Cargolux has only recently become active in the aerial firefighting field, deploying the first planes under Aquarius Aerial Firefighting in May 2024. The fleet currently numbers four aircraft, expecting to expand to 12 by 2026.
