Luxembourg's winemakers won 11 gold and six silver medals at the 2025 National Crémant Competition in Beaune, with the Grand Duchy set to host the prestigious event next year for its sparkling wine's 35th anniversary.
Luxembourg's sparkling wines once again shone on the international stage this weekend, as producers from the Grand Duchy took home 11 gold and six silver medals at the prestigious Concours National des Crémants de France et de Luxembourg, held in Beaune. The annual competition highlights the best sparkling wines from France and Luxembourg, with this year's entries judged across several categories, including Blanc Brut, Rosé Brut, Cuvée Millésimée, and Cuvées Spéciales.
Among the standout winners were Vinsmoselle and Caves Gales, each receiving three gold medals for their crémants. Domaines Schumacher-Knepper, Cep d'Or, Laurent and Rita Kox, and Krier-Frères also earned top marks, each securing one gold medal.
Judges praised the Luxembourgish entries for their finesse, freshness, and elegance, reaffirming the Moselle region's growing reputation for high-quality sparkling wines.
A highlight of the gala dinner in Beaune was the ceremonial presentation of a bottle of crémant to Luxembourg's Viticulture Minister Martine Hansen. The symbolic gesture, offered on behalf of the Fonds de Solidarité Viticole, marked Luxembourg's upcoming role as host of the 35th edition of the competition.
The 2026 edition will be especially festive, as it will not only bring all French crémant-producing regions to Luxembourg's Moselle, but also coincide with the 35th anniversary of Crémant de Luxembourg. The Grand Duchy's producers are already preparing to pop the corks for what promises to be a milestone celebration of tradition, quality, and regional pride.
