Heisbourg's family honoured his memory in a press release published by the Luxemburger Wort on Saturday.
Georges Heisbourg, born in 1947, began his legal career in 1973 as a lawyer. For over 20 years, he worked as deputy public prosecutor and was famously involved in cases of money laundering and international cooperation in criminal justice.
From 2006, he served as Luxembourg's representative for Eurojust in The Hague, an EU project for international cooperation in the fight against crime. He then became the deputy Secretary General for the Benelux Union in Brussels in 2008.
