
Friday proved to be a demanding day for Luxembourg police, as they tackled theft, drug-related offences, and nearly two dozen disturbances overnight.
The Luxembourg police dealt with a variety of incidents on Friday, ranging from theft and drug possession to burglaries and public disturbances.
At approximately 3pm, officers responded to a report of an individual attempting to conceal goods in an empty suitcase at an electronics store in Belval. The suspect was apprehended on-site, and during a search, police discovered drugs in their possession. On the orders of the public prosecutor's office, the suspect was arrested and brought before an examining magistrate.
A spate of burglaries also kept police busy. At around 4.20pm, two unidentified individuals broke a window to enter a home in Medernach. They stole several valuables but were confronted by a resident and fled the scene. An investigation is ongoing, but the suspects have not yet been located. Additional burglaries and attempted burglaries were reported in Christnach, Steinfort, Niederanven, Merzig, and Bergem. In the early hours of Saturday, at around 3.30am, a car break-in was reported in Pétange. The perpetrator was quickly located, and officers discovered various stolen items and banknotes in their possession. The suspect was fined on the orders of the public prosecutor's office.
During the same night, police responded to approximately two dozen brawls or disputes. In some cases, the individuals involved had left before officers arrived. In others, police successfully diffused the situations. Three people were arrested due to intoxication, as they posed a danger to themselves and others.
