With flu cases climbing for the fourth consecutive week, Luxembourg is officially entering its flu season, according to the Ministry of Health.

As some may have already suspected by the increasing number of people coughing and sneezing across the country, flu season has officially arrived in Luxembourg.

The Ministry of Health reported in its latest bulletin that flu cases have been rising for the fourth consecutive week, from 190 to 350 infections – a sharp increase of 84%. According to the National Health Directorate, these figures mark the start of the annual flu season.

In response, the Ministry has issued a reminder to the public to get vaccinated, emphasising that it is not too late to do so. The Ministry also encourages continued adherence to traditional protective measures, including frequent hand washing, staying home when ill, and avoiding large crowds during peak flu season.

Additionally, Covid-19 infections have risen by 29%, while the Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV), which can be especially dangerous for newborns, has been detected in 226 cases.

Since 2023, infants in Luxembourg have been systematically vaccinated against RSV.
