A car fire on the A6 motorway Thursday afternoon has caused significant traffic delays, with the hard shoulder blocked and vehicles moving through the overtaking lane.

Emergency services reported Thursday afternoon that a car had caught fire on the A6 motorway, heading towards Croix de Gasperich.

The hard shoulder is currently blocked, causing traffic to flow through the overtaking lane.

According to the Motorway Traffic and Control Centre (CITA), the incident has led to traffic congestion extending as far as the Bertrange exit and also affecting the direction towards Arlon near Croix de Gasperich. Motorists are advised to drive with caution.
