On Thursday police were faced with phone thieves, alcohol-fuelled vandalism and driving, and burglaries throughout the Grand Duchy.

On Thursday afternoon, a drunk man went about vandalising and jumping in front of cars in Lonkecher Strooss (N5) in Rodange. Unable to be calmed by the police, he was arrested. A similar incident happened in Esch, where a drunken man was behaving inappropriately in front of a restaurant in Avenue Rock’n Roll. He had to be stopped by the police.

Later that day, the police was informed about a burglary in Bettembourg. The two adolescent culprits stole a woman’s phone at a bus stop and ran towards the train station. The police subsequently launched an investigation.

Burglaries in Differdange and Belair

Thursday evening turned out to be a tumultuous night, as officials were also alerted of two break-ins. The first happened in a single-family home on Rue de Hussigny in Differdange. In Belair, the thieves were interested in stealing jewellery and cash from an apartment in Rue Astrid.

The police once again urges everyone to take into account their advice on how to prevent break-ins.

Inebriated drivers and transport of drugs on Thursday night

During the night leading up to Friday, the police revoked several drivers' licenses due to alcohol or drug influence.

A vehicle on the A4 towards Esch came to the police’s attention because of its dangerous driving. After the driver was stopped on Route de Luxembourg in Esch, the conducted alcohol test showed positive results. The driver had to cede their license.

Then, on the A4 in direction of Hollerich, a speeding car struck the officials. At the height of the Pontpierre exit, the driver was stopped to reveal that the car exuded a strong smell of cannabis. The two people in the car as well as the vehicle itself were thoroughly checked. The officials found drugs and therefore wrote up the driver and passenger.

After breaking down on Op Ruchat street in Doncols, an inebriated driver was noticed by the police and had his license revoked.
