A mugging at Dommeldange railway station was thwarted by intervening passers-by on Saturday, leading to the eventual arrest of two suspects after a police investigation.
Two individuals have been arrested in connection with an armed mugging that occurred at Dommeldange railway station on Saturday afternoon.
According to police, the incident began as a pre-arranged meeting for the victim to sell a bag. The situation escalated when one of the two culprits reportedly brandished a knife and demanded the victim's clothing. A second individual then produced a weapon and seized the bag and its contents.
The altercation drew the attention of several passers-by, whose intervention prompted the assailants to flee the scene. The suspects subsequently attempted to use the victim's stolen bank card at a nearby petrol station, but the transaction was unsuccessful.
Following an investigation, police located and apprehended the two suspects. In their vicinity, officers recovered the stolen bag and a pair of brass knuckles.
One of the alleged culprits was arrested on the order of the public prosecutor's office and presented to an examining magistrate on Sunday. The second suspect, identified as a minor, was transferred to the State Social and Educational Centre (CSEE).
